Why do Hybrid cars get worse gas mileage on the Highway vs City?

chill asked: I went car shopping this weekend. On the Hybrid cars the mpg rating for the highway driving is worse than city. This is complete opposite from gasoline cars that get better on the highway. I don’t get it?

What is the longterm eco effect of all these new hybrid cars? Is it worth the switch?

Do hybrid cars need block heaters for cold weather starting?

Which type of current is used by modern hybrid cars?
