Are Hybrid Cars a Viable Path into the Future?

by Cars & Motorcycles
December 23rd, 2008

dragonchips asked: With Nancy Pelosi visiting Yahoo answers, we heard of the commitment to hybrids cars, a greener tomorrow, and the environmental conundrum. My question is to all of you, while hybrid cars are a good starting point, are they a real solution? While they do receive higher gas mileage, should we be looking away from gasoline entirely for a new solution to a mobile power source.

The reason why I ask this is because I always hear what a great job we are doing by switching over, and yet our dependency on resources taken from hostile territories, is every day increasing. Are hybrids just an excuse to avoid the real issue? Or can they be fit into a plan to wean ourselves away from our traditional sources.

I’d like to hear any thoughts on the matter, or anything that might even be a viable alternative solution. Thanks!

I saw one recently which looked really nice but it started at about £30k-ish.
Does anyone reading this own one? What’s your opinion?
