What’s the big deal with electric cars? Isn’t like 80% of our electricity from coal?
jeffpatterson93 asked: I remember my teacher telling us about alternative energy and how about 80% of all electricity in the U.S. is coal power. And I remember hearing somewhere that coal is worse for the environment than gas, so wouldn’t electric cars just hurt the environment?

Did GM make a critical error when scrapping electric cars over 10 years ago?
Bird N asked: Electric cars did exist over 10 years ago, but GM decided to scrap all of the cars, even though they worked perfectly. It’s all in a documentary called “Who killed the electric car?”. GM sold the battery technology to an oil company and the electric car was no more. If they would have worked on the battery technology, think of how far we would have gotten into electric cars.

Why do people think that electric cars will reduce air pollution?
Phil asked: If we’re talking about conventional electric cars that have to be plugged in, you have to consider how that electricity is being generated. The majority of power plants in this country are COAL-POWERED. If we all had electric cars, we wouldn’t have any exhaust coming out of the cars, but there would be a lot more coal being burned to generate the electricity to charge the cars’ batteries. So how does that reduce pollution?
Will some one help with an invention to make a new generating system for electric cars?
angels above us asked: I have an invention to charge the batteries while the car is moving. No one has come up with this idea. No drag on the system, assembly is easy, no plug-in is needed for charging, once charged it will stay charged as long as you drive it, no gasoline is used, safe, non polluting. All I need is some one with mechanical engineering knowledge honest and willing to help. Will some one help me and the environment with this electric car?
What is meant by “break even” and “over trade” when buying a new car?
soonkuey asked: I own a car which is about 2 1/2 yrs old. Wish to change to a smaller capacity car. But when i ask my friends, they ask me when is my car break even instead. Then they talk talk talk and mentioned about over trade. Well, these terms starting flying around in my head and i was wondering what are those? Help?
