JayeSpilled asked: I’m looking to buy a 2006 Chevy Impala, but I’m still deciding whether or not to buy it used or new from a dealership. What are the pros and cons of buying a car used verses new?

If you buy a used vehicle, you should save several thousand dollars in depreciation. The main problem is finding a 2006 used car for sale. there is not a great selection of current model year used cars.
Many of the current model year cars that are out there are from rental fleets, so have the car checked by your own mechanic and check with the Chevy dealer to see what, if any factory warranty is still on the vehicle.
new,
good-your the first owner, new car smell, car not going break down easy, you know what you have done to the vehicle and how it is driven,
bad-high price and as soon as it is out of the lot-depreciation of the vehicle. if you buy it new and sell it to the guy right as you pull out of the parking lot you will not get the same price.
used,
good- you get a better price for the vehicle due to depreciation,
bad- you dont know how it was driven and how it was taken car of. it doesnt matter whether it was 10000 miles or 100000 how do you know they werent speed racer.
if it was me i would buy used and be picky about buying the used car, check out the mileage, go under the car to see how it looks, open the hood, smell the oil, test drive it like you stole it. If it runs good, smooth and the price is right, than take it. Of course price shop around.
I bought a 2005 Chevy Impala used last year…It was a rental and I was able to get a great deal. Used is the better option. You still get a large part of the warranty and you don’t have the big depreciation you have when buying a new car. Usually the the newer (2005,2006) used cars are from rental agencies. That is not a bad thing, rental agencies maintenance their car regularly and keep the records. The Impala is a great car. Good Luck
