by Cars & Motorcycles

When buying a used car, what are some specific things I should check? Of course take it for a spin and see if I don’t hear or feel any weird stuff, make sure the dials work, heating and controls, engine light not on, but what up under the hood, what are few things I can shake or jar to see if they are loose and what are some good outward signs of some common systemic problems other than obvious leaks and stuff? Thanks.

I won’t get the title until I get to New York so what do I need to be able to drive this vehicle back and where do I get it?

Hi,
I’m just wondering when you buy a used car do you bring a mechanic with you to inspect the car?
Also would you prefer buying from a dealership or a private seller?
I’m kind of leaning towards the private seller because of all the stories about the dealers rewinding the mileage and rebuilding cars.

We are looking to buy a used car from a dealer, and aren’t exactly sure what to expect or what to look out for. We already have a nice amount that we are approved for from our bank, but don’t want to get swindled by all the extras we hear dealers will try and throw out at you. What is good and not good to get when buying a vehicle?
