Recharging electric cars will never catch on, wouldn’t it be better to swap batteries at the “gas station”?
estiben1 asked: The electric cars that are being produced expect us to park the car every 200 miles or so, and wait for HOURS for it to recharge. This will never catch on in a world where we can’t even wait 10 mins to boil rice. Is no-one working on electric cars having interchangeable batteries, so you drop off the dead battery at the “gas station” and pick up a charged one to continue your journey…?
Why do we even bother with electric cars?
…. asked: I’m just curious, why do we even attempt to make electric cars like the Chevy Volt. Almost all of our power grid is ran by gasoline powered turbines i don’t really see the plus to even inventing them we’re just using gas indirectly. And don’t tell me solar and wind power can solve our problems, because it can’t.

With that in mind, what if every US household replaced their gasoline powered car with an electric car, how many cars would that be like putting ON the road? 
Are electric powered cars really more energy efficient than gas powered cars?

What’s the big deal with electric cars? Isn’t like 80% of our electricity from coal?

On Hybrid cars how does the gasoline engine turn on?
ckandarian asked: When driving a Hybrid the electric motor is used at low speeds, then the gasoline engine kicks in for more power. Question is how does the gasoline engine turn on or is it always on?
now that I know how the gasoline engine turns on, it does not seem to have any warm up time, so you could be accelerating hard onto a freeway with cold thick oil. should I be worried about excessive wear?
How do hybrid cars use less fuel? Isn’t efficiency wasted in the extra conversions of energy?
Alex C asked: I’m thinking of hybrids that have a gas motor and electric. If they aren’t charged with electricity externally, all of the energy to run it comes from gasoline. Hence, how is it more fuel efficient to transfer energy via an electric motor to a battery and then back to the wheels via the motor again to use for drive (at slow speeds or whenever they do this)?
