What is the point of hydrogen cars when the hydrogen is produced by electric?

And the electric (electrolysis) produced by coal/oil/nuclear/etc why not just have electric cars with a nice clean electric motor.
Batteries could be swapped at petrol stations so no need to wait.
Electricity also comes from solar.
I think industry is tooled up for the internal combustion engine petrol or hydrogen and are unwilling to change.

In hybrid cars, is hydrogen used as a primary fuel like gasoline or is it used to burn gasoline efficiently?

DJ asked: I skimmed the Wiki hydrogen article this morning and was unable to find out if hydrogen is used as the primary fuel in today’s hybrid hydrogen/gasoline cars or if it is used to burn gasoline more efficiently with less carbon dioxide emissions.
