What car maintenance do I need at 90,000 km?

Scooter asked: I have never taken my car in for maintenance except for regular oil changes. I have also periodically changed the air filter and have rotated the tires. What should I be doing on my car now?

There are 4 most important maintenance items in your engine and tranny (the most expensive parts of the car).
(1) engine oil (3k – 5K miles)
(2) tranny oil (30K miles)
(3) coolant (3 years)
(4) timing belt (60K miles)
Just keep those maintenance and your engine and tranny will be problem free. I have a 94 Civic with 187K miles and the engine + tranny + suspension runs like new. I get 41 MPG (doing 72 MPH). I can get even better MPG doing 55.
Good maintenance pays off.
====
Regular 60K mile maintenance schedule. What ever you missed at 60K – you do it at 90K also.
* New Spark plugs,
* New Spark plug wires & coils (all-in-one on Audi),
* New Air filters,
New Fuel filters,
Clean or replace Fuel injectors,
Test fuel pressure,
** Replace timing belt,
* Change engine oil,
** Change transmission oil,
* Change differential lubricant,
Change brake fluids,
Check battery connectors,
Check (test) charging system,
Replace O2 sensor,
* Change coolants,
Replace belts,
Check large hoses (coolant, etc),
Check small hoses (vacuum, etc.),
Check tires wear / pressure,
Check suspension parts (ball joints, etc.)
Lubricate hinges (doors, hood, trunk, etc.)
Replace interior cab air filter

You don’t have to do ALL of them. But the timing belt is a MUST. The items with 2 stars (**) are must do items. The items with with one star are “really should” items. The rest are optional.
Good Luck…
here do some reading… sounds like your right on with it just doing any kind of it is great.. plugs and fuel filter air filter and having the fluids change you got it many can be done at home
