Where can I learn about taking care of my car better?

rockguy1403 asked: My brother went to college, and left his 2005 Mustang at home. I take care of it regularly, cleaning the outside, and vacuming/conditioning the interior. I want to know how to take care of his engine and how to clean better. Where can I do this? Online websites or would I have to go some car place – like Auto Zone – to learn?

Car maintenance class local college, good on yer, you look after it and it will look after you. Always done all of my own stuff.
Buy a Haynes repair manual at Auto Zone. Should be about $20. It will tell you how to do all the regular maintenance.
Many small community colleges offer basic auto classes for a nominal fee on weekends or you can check to see if they offer continuing education adult classes in your area. Get yourself a copy of the repair manual for your model vehicle from a local book store or auto parts store like Auto Zone or Napa near you. They all have a section of maintenance and tools you need for your task.
The basics would be to check the oil, transmission fluid, and coolant in your engine before you drive and check the air pressure of your tires at least once a week or at the minimum every time you fill up the gas. Oil changes every 3000 miles or so, and learning how to do it yourself will be a good beginning for you to start with. I’m impressed every time I see or hear a question like this and kudos to you for wanting to do more.
