Many small community colleges offer basic auto classes for a nominal fee on weekends or you can check to see if they offer continuing education adult classes in your area. Get yourself a copy of the repair manual for your model vehicle from a local book store or auto parts store like Auto Zone or Napa near you. They all have a section of maintenance and tools you need for your task.
The basics would be to check the oil, transmission fluid, and coolant in your engine before you drive and check the air pressure of your tires at least once a week or at the minimum every time you fill up the gas. Oil changes every 3000 miles or so, and learning how to do it yourself will be a good beginning for you to start with. I'm impressed every time I see or hear a question like this and kudos to you for wanting to do more.

Buy a Haynes repair manual at Auto Zone. Should be about $20. It will tell you how to do all the regular maintenance.
