People, especially mechanics, seem to take advantage of women thinking they don't know anything about the car they're driving. I myself am a young woman with an F-350 diesel truck and I used to work in an automotive shop. I happen to LOVE my truck and have looked into getting a new engine myself as it has over 243,000 miles on it and is still going strong. You may be able to get a NEW engine for your car from some place like Schuck's Auto Supply, but it will have to be special ordered. Plan on spending several thousand dollars, because the labor to take out the old engine and put the new one in can run close to a thousand more on top of the engine itself. Also, when you get the new engine, you should think about investing in a new transmission as well. You can also get a factory re-built engine for cheaper, especially if you have an older model car. You can call Schuck's or even the dealership or your local junkyard and see if they have anything that would work for you. Once you have the engine, it can be a job that takes a few days, pulling the old one out with an engine hoist and installing the new one, but it shouldn't take longer than that.
