Which brands are best when buying new car speakers?

Russell T asked: I’m getting new speakers for my Peugeot 306 but as there’s no way of sampling the sound quality myself when purchasing off the internet, I need some advice on which ones to look at. I found some Infinity speakers and they seem alright but I’m not convinced.
Any suggestions would be great, cheers

Best to go out of your way to visit car audio shops to sample, then buy online. Even high-end speakers all have a slightly different feel to them – their own voice you might say. As far as reputation, Infinity is among the highest regarded, as well as Rainbow, MB Quart and Boston Acoustics. MTX, JL and Diamond are slightly lower end, but still an excellent choice. Don’t forget, quality speakers do you no good without a good clean amplifier. Look at Zapco or JL Audio.
