Rick M asked: Really! Everyone in this country buys Toyotas anyway. More Toyotas and Hondas are built in the USA than Chevrolets..

I would not care, however there are a ton of american jobs that go along with these auto makers. that would put a bigger hurt on the economy than there already is.

I would love to see the union dissolve… I don’t buy domestic anymore because little things on them keep breaking, every Foreign car I ever own lasted 2-3 times longer with less or no problems. They did it to themselves trying to be greedy, it is the Ford and GM zealots that keep them in business.

yes they would because it has more jobs than any other company if it goes away then over 7 million people will be out of jobs i know that my ex works for gm and yes he is on the picket line so is my daughter and Toyota’s and Honda’s are built here but the money goes bake to the companies in other countries and they fall apart and are recalled more than Chevy’s are so go to the gm website and look it up and then go to th e other website as see who is better and to let ya know Gm come out with the better concept cars and they copy them.

No. China and India plan on making the American market even more crowded. Even if GM were to get the wage cuts, the cuts would have to be dropped even lower so that they could match “luxury” vehicles at $12,000.

I do not think the majority of the market would care if GM was gone or not. Most people realize that domestics are not that great in quality. But it would hurt the economy job wise a lot of people would be jobless. I was a big time domestic fan since I was a kid.Now I refuse to buy one till they get their crap right i now have3 Nissan’s and one Toyota Have had no problems like I did with the domestics.personally those unions need to go if you look at the assembly plants here for Toyota,Nissan and Honda there is no unions why because they treat their workers with respect so there is no need for unions to be in the middle making things worse.

The almost 200k people that work directly for GM and the hundreds of thousands more that work for suppliers would care. GM still sells more cars in this country than anyone else too. They are also about even with Toyota at about 10 million cars sold worldwide. GM has somewhere around 25% of the market. Toyota and Honda combined might sell that many cars here but they only employ about 1/5 the people here.

GM builds more cars in the US than Honda and Toyota too.

Shant – The average UAW worker has a bachelors degree and doesn’t use it because they make more money and get better benefits working on an assembly line than they would in an office. They are over paid but they are not uneducated.

  7. Shant J says:

I would care! I personally prefer Japanese cars but I have nothing against American ones. The UAW is just greedy nowadays! The average UAW worker with a High School level education gets payed more than a College professor with a PhD!

The UAW once made sense but is now just as greedy as can be! Something needs to be done to regulate it.

GM isn’t going away, best cars and trucks on the road

With the uaw sucking the life out of the big three it wont be long till the american cars are a thing from the past. The uaw will go down in history as the largest leach on any car company ever.
