Nope, wouldn’t bother me at all.

Although, some non-smokers are bothered by the smell, so that’s something you might want to consider if you think you can earn more in commissions by selling more cars to non-smokers.

You know, just KNOWING the car salesman smoked wouldn’t bother me. After all, my only relationship with the salesman would be professional and to buy the car; whether he smoked or shot heroin in his private life is no business of mine, as long as it didn’t affect the job.

HOWEVER –

If the salesman SMELLED like smoke, then YES, that would unquestionably affect my likelihood of buying a car from the guy.

It’s akin to someone having snot in his moustache. Or spilled food on the front of his shirt. Or if he picked his nose. Any of those preventable, disgusting things I have to deal with affect my impression of a person and his professionalism. Plus, I just don’t want to have to deal with it.

Smoke STINKS. Particularly badly to some people. I’d just as soon go for a test drive with someone who hadn’t showered in a week and was passing gas throughout the test drive.

Unfortunately to me it does matter~ i have severe asthma and very sensitive sinus’ and my sense of smell is very acute. The smell of second hand smoke~ be it in the air or on someone~ takes the air right out of my lungs and I choke and can not breath. It makes me feel like Im going to die~ and scares me because I cant get my breath.

I would have to ask for another sales man.

And the funny thing~ I used to smoke for years!!

I would still buy the car if I really wanted it.
But if I saw him smoking I would probably get a different salesperson.

if it was really strong stench then yes, smoke scent can turn people off, it is a huge distraction, especiall if ur in a car with them it would make me not want to buy a car from him or the company..

I really wouldn’t care because I know some salesmen that will smoke with there customers even though they don’t really smoke. It’s like they are suddenly buddies after they smoke together. Weird but true.

Now if my dr smoked or was obese I would probably change doctors.
